The shift to a fugitive narrative brought significant production changes. Filming moved from the Fox River set in Illinois to Dallas, Texas, to leverage its mix of urban and rural landscapes, which better suited the on-the-run storyline. The season's conclusion was shot in Pensacola, Florida, which stood in for Panama, setting up the next phase of the saga.
